Watford vs Leicester City Ending One of the Best In Sport
It doesn’t get much better than this. We’ve seen comebacks before but the circumstances behind the Watford vs Leicester City Championship Playoff semi-final made this comeback something that will be spoken about for years to come. No, decades to come. The script couldn’t have been written any better - well it certainly could have for Leicester and anyone associated with the club, but for a neutral fan, the amount of drama that was on show at Vicarage Road is remarkable.
Fast forward to the 97th minute of a match that was meant to have only 4 minutes of time added on. Leicester City were set to book their place in the Playoff finals when Anthony Knockaert prepared himself to take a late and debatable penalty. Former Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia made a fine save with his feet that popped right back out to Knockaert. The Leicster man quickly scrambled to set himself again but Almunia’s reaction was even quicker. A second save kickstarted a counter-attack that saw Watford break quickly down the right hand side of pitch. Moments after Knockaert took a deep breath before striking his penalty, Troy Deeney fired a volley into an empty Leicester net.
The aggregate flipped from 2-2 to 3-2 in Watford’s favor as the home side booked their place into the Championship finals. Take a look at the action below and share with us your favorite sports endings.
