Two of the top three teams in the Western Conference face off Saturday as third place LA Galaxy visits first place FC Dallas in the weekend’s most intriguing match.

LA Galaxy is coming off a 2-2 draw away at Toronto FC in their last MLS match and currently sits with a 2-0-2 record and a solid eight points. While they have played just four matches, LA is the only team left in MLS without a loss this season and has an impressive +5 goal differential, which is tied for tops in the league. The loss of David Beckham to Paris Saint-Germain has lost LA some popularity, international attention, and a great player, but doesn’t seem to have fazed the squad at all on the pitch. On top of Beckham’s loss, the absence of Landon Donovan for personal reasons surely would have doomed the season, but no, LA has shown that chemistry rules in the game of football.

FC Dallas also lost a key player from last season in Brek Shea, who transferred to English Premier League side Stoke City before the season, but have also shown no ill effects from their loss. As the first place team in the Western Conference, FC Dallas owns a 4-1-1 record including a +3 goal differential and has had a very balanced scoring attack so far. Like LA, Dallas is coming off a 2-2 draw at Toronto in their last MLS match, but will have the advantage in front of their home crowd on Saturday. Dallas is tied for the league lead in goals scored (10) with Chivas USA and is playing with supreme confidence right now, which should give them the edge in this matchup.

Saturday’s match between Western Conference foes will be fun to watch as FC Dallas looks to stay undefeated at home and LA Galaxy try to stay undefeated overall. Now let’s take a look at some of the key battles to watch:
