The injury to Toni Kroos could not have come at a much better time for Dutch winger Arjen Robben. After being relegated to the role as a substitute only a few months ago, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid winger once again found himself in the limelight after helping Bayern Munich beat Barcelona 7-0 on aggregate in the Champions League semi-final. Robben scored in both home and away legs, while his teamwork was even more crucial in helping the German club get to their third Champions League semi-final in four years.

Yet, Bayern Munich have flopped in the finals in the last two occasions. As a result, the club are still waiting for their first Champions League title since 2001. Bayern will be coming up against their archrivals Borussia Dortmund in the final at Wembley. Robben has called for focus from his team in order to avoid yet another disappointment.

“Now we’re in the final. It’s the third time in the last four years, but it’s time to win it now!” said Robben to the Evening Standard.

Bayern Munich have let their focus slip already once this season, as they came extremely close to being knocked out by Arsenal. Bayern and Dortmund have already met each other thrice this season with the former managing to stay undefeated in these matches.

“I think we have to stay calm. At this moment we’re playing some great football. We have to enjoy this moment, just stay calm, play our football and try to improve over and over again,” said the 29-year-old.

The Dutch international has been criticised in recent years for not being a team player, but he showed he can be one in the two legs against Barcelona. He, along with Ribery, proved extremely important in both defence and attack. They stayed compact and did not allow Barcelona a lot of space.
