Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas wants on-loan defender Danny Rose to reject a move to stay in Sunderland and return to the Spurs next season.

Rose has been extremely impressive in a season long loan at the Stadium of Light and has even been nominated for Sunderland’s Player of the Year. Rose solidified a spot in the starting XI at left-back. The 22-year-old made a total of 27 appearances this season and was even able to net a goal for Sunderland.

Rose says he will make his decision on his future for next season by the end of this one and has hinted that he would enjoy continuing his stay with Sunderland. However, Sky Sports understands that Villas-Boas would very much like for the young defender to return to White Hart Lane for next years campaign.

It would make sense why Villas-Boas would hope for a return by Rose as left-back has been a weak spot in the Spurs back line all season long. Villa-Boas has been forced to play Kyle Naughton and Jon Vertonghen out of position to fill the spot in the back. Not helping this situation is Benoit Assou-Ekotto has not been able to find a consistent form and has been moved  in and out of the lineup all season.

The final decision by Rose, who is going to be playing for England U21 this summer at the European Championships, will want to return to the Spurs. Rose has been sent out on loan four times and has only made eight appearances for the Spurs since signing with them in 2007.

If Rose does decide to join the Spurs he will definitely give their back line a youthful spark that it could desperately use, he has proven that this season loan was good for his development and he looks poised to be a great defender for a long time.
