Aston Villa Put £40million Price Tag on Arsenal Target Christian Benteke

Following a breakout season with Aston Villa, young Belgian international forward Christian Benteke has been one of the biggest talks of the transfer market so far this summer.

The 22-year-old cost Villa only £8 million from FC Genk last summer, but he could wind up netting them over four times that amount if they indeed decide to sell him after tagging a £40million price on his head.

Arsenal and Tottenham head the bidding war of interested parties as the North London rivals continue to never be separated even when the season is over.

Manager Andre Villas-Boas is keen to add to his attacking group with aging Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor not being quite good enough and not being prepared for the Portuguese manager’s long term goals at the club.

Arsene Wenger continues to struggle with replacing Robin Van Persie and despite spending greatly last summer on Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud, the two still did not make up for the loss of their star Dutchman to Manchester United.

With the French tactician’s beloved interest in investing in youth, Benteke is a major possibility for the Gunners if they indeed splash the cash as they claim intention of doing.

Lastly, Spanish side Atletico Madrid are also believed to be in the running after just cashing in on Radamel Falcao and his massive move to French club, Monaco.
