Liverpool FC are currently sitting in seventh place in the Barclays Premier League table. With only one game left to play, all the team has to look forward to is breaking 60 points this season, which hasn’t gone as expected at all. Brendan Rodgers thought he had a team to make a run at a Champions League spot, but even there the team came up short.

As the transfer season approaches, Liverpool will have to figure out who will leave and possible replacements moving forward. The main goal will be keeping Luis Suarez and surrounding him with great talent. Suarez, a stereotypical rule-breaker, is currently serving a suspension that will carry on through the first six games of next season.

Rumors are that Liverpool will try to sign young proven talent with high resale value in the offseason. This mentality has already proven effective for Liverpool, as January transfers Phillipe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge have been in superb form lately. Talent and youth will be key this summer.

Barcelona winger Cristian Tello has been on Liverpool’s wishlist for a while now. This season, Tello has improved and impressed many teams. The Spanish player has demonstrated that his combination of speed and finishing is vital against any team. Tello could arrive to Anfield in a deal that would send former Barcelona goalkeeper, Pepe Reina, back home to where he started his playing career.

In addition to Tello, Liverpool have already signed youth player Lloyd Jones to a professional contract. The 17-year-old was signed to a three-year deal after good performances with the Liverpool U-21 side. Jones is seen by many in the Liverpool staff as a potential replacement for retiring legend Jamie Carragher.

Alongside Tello and Jones comes Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The 24-year-old has recently made an agent switch with the hopes of becoming a Liverpool player next season. Mkhitaryan has had a wonderful campaign with Shakhtar, which has caught the eyes of many after the Armenia international scored 24 goals in 34 matches. The player is also thought to be followed by rivals Tottenham Hotspur. However, Liverpool are currently in the front seat.

The next player who has recently sneaked onto Rodgers wishlist is Tunisian defender, Aymen Abdennour. The 23-year-old is plays at left-back for French side Toulouse. Abdennour is also being scouted by European powerhouse FC Barcelona. Liverpool are looking to snatch him up for only 5 millions euros.
