David Villa Transfer: Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham to miss out on Spanish star

The English Premier League have had several clubs looking to make a move for Barcelona striker, David Villa for quite some time. Since the player broke his leg at the FIFA World Club Cup almost 18 months ago, there has been much speculation that he is not in the current plans for Barcelona. As the meteoric rise of Lionel Messi continued with his goal scoring exploits threatened every record in the books, Villa became almost a forgotten forward in Catalonia.

Villa continues to push for his place in the Barcelona side as well as with the Spanish National team as the 31-year-old forward managed ten goals and five assists in 28 La Liga appearances last season in his come back campaign. However, despite interest from across the pond in England and potentially a return to more first team action, Villa is believed to be staying in Spain according to the Express.

Liverpool were thought to be trying to sign the veteran forward last summer and again this past winter as the club have struggled to find the right partner for Luis Suarez as Andy Carroll and Fabio Borini failed to deliver.

North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham also have both been linked to a move for the Spanish National team player. The Gunners need a striker with Villa’s nose for goal and ability to also be a front line playmaker. Tottenham on the other hand truly just need that killer instinct of a striker that likes to score goals and that has more to offer than what is on display with Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe.

Villa would fit in well at any of the three with all of the clubs working on rebuilding and they all would have a place for Villa in their first team more days than not, but how wants to leave Spain’s most dominant club of the last ten years when your biggest rival in Real Madrid is once again having to change managers and rebuild and you have a chance at another La Liga title and even more Spanish glory.
