Cristiano Ronaldo: Contract Rumors are False

Cristiano Ronaldo has commented on rumors that claimed he was close to putting pen to paper on a new contract at Real Madrid.

The 28-year-old has taken to twitter to clarify his intentions and rubbish reports coming out of Spain that say he was close to signing a new contract that would keep him at the club into 2018.

His post contradicts statements released by Madrid club president Florentino Perez that insisted the superstar’s desires were to remain with the club.

Speaking earlier in the week, Perez told Spanish newspaper Marca;

“I am going to be as clear as possible. My aim, Cristiano’s aim, and the aim of all Real Madrid fans is that he carries on playing here for many years to come. When so many people want the same thing then it usually turns out to be the case. I, myself and Real Madrid both want that. The player, Cristiano Ronaldo, also wants that. Without a shadow of a doubt, that is what Cristiano wants too.” (quote via goal)

Well it seems as though a nightmare has emerged from the shadows of Florentino Perez’s doubt. Cristiano might just want out of Madrid.

Speculation has been churning for a while, but this will surely launch a media frenzy regarding he Portuguese stars next move.

Should he decide to depart Madrid this summer, a number of clubs will already have bids lined up for the forward. Reports claim that Monaco has weighed up a 100 million pound offer for the ace. However they will have to go head to head with fellow big spenders PSG if they look to convince Ronaldo to take cash over allegiance.

Manchester United’s new manager David Moyes will be licking his lips after hearing the news. While there is no way he can match the transfer sum or wage offer of either French team, he might be able to convince Ronaldo that coming back to Old Trafford would settle his emotions after a tumultuous time in the Spanish capital.

What do you make of Ronaldo’s twitter post? Is he really seeking an exit from Madrid? If so, where do you want to see him play next season?
