Chelsea Target Pep Guardiola willing to take Brazil’s job ‘tomorrow’

European clubs may be fighting for and firing their coaches in an attempt to pursue Pep Guardiola, but the latest rumors are that the former Barcelona boss is willing to take on Brazil before the World Cup in 2014.

Reports even say that he would cut his year off soccer short if he were offered the job. The Brazilian Football Confederation fired their coach Mano Menezes and, naturally, rumors began favoring Guardiola. After all, he is the most sought after coach after leaving Barcelona in order to take a year sabbatical from soccer. Guardiola wants to become an international coach after winning everything possible with currently one of the best clubs in the world, according to the report in the Brazil sports paper Lance!. The newspaper’s editor says in the article that he had asked his source twice to confirm Guradiola’s desire to coach Brazil considering the reaction the announcement will provoke. After Chelsea’s owner sacked Roberto Di Matteo, rumors that Pep was Roman Abramovich’s first choice as a new manager of the Blues immediately started. Guardiola’s manager Josep María Orobitg has insisted that his client would not even think about his offers until January at the earliest and will not coach until June.

Another candidate for the job of coaching Brazil, according to reports, is Luiz Felipe Scolari. He led the Brazilian side to win the World Cup in 2002. Scolari is currently unemployed as he turned job offers to coach the Russian national team and Brazilian teams Gremio and Cruzeiro.

Guardiola, who has won 14 trophies in four years at Camp Nou, is keeping quiet about his future. He is currently living in New York, enjoying time with his family, reading books and watching soccer, according to his manager.
