Arsenal defeated West Bromwich Albion through the help of two Tomas Rosicky goals at the Hawthornes in a match that saw Per Mertesacker sent off after 70 minutes. The Gunners took the lead in the first half then doubled their joy in the second half through the former Czech international, but James Morrison made the final twenty minutes a nervy one for Arsenal fans after he converted his spot kick. Mertesacker was sent off for the challenge that led to the penalty but Arsenal were able to hold in the end. Several key substitutions helped re-enforce the Gunners’ back line and secure a vital three points. Arsenal moved up to fourth in the table, one point ahead of Chelsea with the Blues set to play tomorrow.
