As the season is coming to an end, this year we saw both faces of AC Milan. We saw the good and the bad. The Rossoneri started the season off the wrong foot. This year AC had its worst start in 80 years. A team who is always a favorite was not reaching expectations; however, as the season developed the Rossoneri saw an incredible turnaround on their performances.

Led by young superstar Stephan El Shaarawy, AC Milan went on a run that saw them battle through the Champions League group stage and qualify to the round of 16. El Shaarawy played an important part as he was their leading scorer throughout the whole season. Along side him was a team full of youth and experience that had to face Champions League’s favorite, Barcelona.

In the first leg of the round of 32 against Barcelona, AC Milan played the game of their lives. Against all odds the Rossoneri pulled what may be the upset of the year. At home at the San Siro, AC Milan beat Barcelona 2-0 to take the lead in the series. Great goals by Boateng and Muntari filled the stand with ecstasy and gave fans hopes of a deep run in the cup. Even though the second leg didn’t go as planned, the team figured out what they had to work on in the offseason and fix for next year. A 4-0 defeat awakened AC Milan and gave them a new perspective on how to approach away games.

After being bounced out of the Champions League, the club kept their great performance streak going. Mario Balotelli spurred the team to playing levels that the team hadn’t reached during the season. His addition to an already scary offense helped Milan soar through Serie A matches going on a 10 league games unbeaten streak and move them ahead of Fiorentina for the third and last place for next year’s Champions League. Since Balotelli’s addition the team has only lost one league match (Juventus).

With one game remaining in the season (Siena), the Rossoneri can expect great things for next year. If they are able to get through Siena, AC Milan will secure a spot in next year Champions League and be able to use Balotelli who didn’t play against Barcelona because of being tied to Manchester City.

Once the season is over AC Milan’s front line will probably be composed of El Shaarawy, Balotelli, Niang, from left to right.

Easily one of the fastest, most skillful, and lethal in Serie A and maybe Europe. If those three players are able to further develop their chemestry, the sky will be the limit.

Their midfield on the other hand might need some help, if the Rossoneri are able to give Kevin Prince-Boateng some help then they will solidify themselves as league favorites. They are rumored to be following Kevin Srootman’s steps which if a deal is reached will be just the perfect piece for the puzzle.

On defense, AC Milan might have the best and most promising outside defenders with De Sciglio and Abate. As far as center backs, one more powerful addition won’t hurt the team. A player like Douglas from Twente would be perfect, the combination of size, athleticism, and experience will be great for AC Milan. While he might not be the next Thiago Silva, he has the potential to become great.
