Liverpool and Manchester United chasing Torino defender Angelo Ogbonna
Torino have made a solid start in their return season to the Italian Serie A top flight after a season down in the second division. Part of the club’s success has been due to a superb defensive presence that has been anchored in the center of defense.
The clubs defensive quality has been greatly due in part to the strong performances of 24-year-old Italian national team player, Angelo Ogbonna. His solid display’s all season have him being touted as the highest sought after Italian defender in quite some time.
According to TalkSport on Oct. 12, 2012 several English Premier League clubs in both Liverpool and Manchester United have been linked with a move for the youngster. While both sides have solid defenses in place, their aging central defensive sections are starting to warrant additional signings.
Liverpool is solid for the future with Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtle, but Sebastian Coates could use another partner in the long run aside from aging veteran Jamie Carragher. Manchester United likewise has an aging central pair in injury prone Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand. Johnny Evans is another young defender waiting his turn that could use a partner his age for the long term future.
