Chelsea, Manchester United Battle for Argentine Defender

Chelsea and battle Manchester United will be in battle to sign up Benfica centre-back Ezequiel Garay according to talkSPORT.

With John Terry in the twilight of his career at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea could be looking to buffer up their defence by getting in Garay. Terry hasn’t been a part of the Chelsea side this season as regularly as he would have hoped with injuries being the major concern.

Garay, who was earlier a part of Real Madrid’s squad, could be in for a transfer if the club finds a suitable buyer looking to shell out the valuation that is expected by Benfica. The 26-year old Argentine international has had a good season, but Benfica will know that they will lose a chunk of the sale price of the defender to his former employers.

Chelsea’s previous purchases from Benfica were David Luiz and Ramires and both have had decent seasons for the Blues so far.

Garay himself has had form going for Benfica after some poor showing for his previous club Real Madrid.

This season Garay has been a part of an excellent campaign for Benfica who are currently on a 21-game unbeaten that has seen them climb to the top of Portuguese premier league football. Garay could be interested in moving to a Premier League side this season.
