Chelsea Man Confident of New Contract

The future of Frank Lampard has been up in the air for long, but finally there seems to be a conclusion in sights. The Chelsea man has said that the signs look increasingly promising that he will remain at the club next season. His contract runs out in just over a month’s time. Lampard has been consistently saying that there has been no offer on the table up until now. He has also expressed his desire to stay at the club on several occasions.

However, as the club prepare to welcome Jose Mourinho to Stamford Bridge, it becomes increasingly likely that Lampard will be offered a new deal. It is a well-known fact that Mourinho and Lampard are extremely close to each other.

Lampard led Chelsea to yet another European triumph on Wednesday night as Chelsea lifted the Europa League by beating Benfica 2-1 in the final. The 34-year-old led Chelsea to Champions League glory only 12 months ago. On both occasions, regular captain John Terry was unavailable. Lampard is still going strong despite his age, and it seems that the club has finally realised his importance to the team.

“I really, really hope so. We haven’t sat down completely on it, but I hope so and the club’s been brilliant so it looks good,” said Lampard to Sky Sports.

The former West Ham midfielder could have himself secured the winning goal against Benfica. Fresh from breaking Chelsea’s all-time goal scoring record, Lampard’s fierce shot left the crossbar rattling. However, Chelsea were not left to rue their luck as a late headed goal from defender Branislav Ivanovic was enough to give Chelsea their second major European honour in as many years.

Terry was in his full kit during the trophy award ceremony, but it was Lampard who lifted the trophy for Chelsea.

Over the years, he has been an inspiration figure to all Chelsea fans with his incredible professionalism, dedication, and hard work. The only surprise is that he is set to get only a one-year extension.
