Despite the impressive performance by Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League semifinal, many Barcelona players remain confident in their ability to regroup and move forward together.

Bayern put on quite the display last week as they dismantled Barcelona 4-0. While there was a bit of controversy surrounding two of the goals, the Bundesliga champions showed that in that particular case they were the superior team. They were able to control the pace of the game completely and made the Barcelona attack look timid.

Since the defeat there has been talk of a shifting in power in the football world, as both Barcelona and Real Madrid were brushed aside with relative ease by Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern and Borussia Dortmund. Some have even been calling this the end of Barcelona as we’ve known them over the past five seasons. Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta thinks these outcries carry very little truth (via Sky Sports).

“I think it is unjust to talk about the end of an era. This team in the past five years has won two Champions Leagues, been to three more semi-finals, we are about to win a fourth league in five years, we have won Supercups and everything else, it has been a blessed cycle of success.”

Barcelona superstar forward Lionel Messi, who was all but invisible during the first leg, is also standing by his club, saying that he believes they will be able to regain their form. The Argentine said, according to Sky Sports,

“We have to lift ourselves for the second leg and La Liga. We will bounce back. They were a lot stronger than us, physically superior. It is a pity what happened but we have to move on.”

Will Barcelona be able to regain their form and show the world they are still at the top of the class on Wednesday or is this the end of the Barcelona era as we know it? Only time will tell but leave your thoughts in the comments section.
