Metro has announced that Arsenal have indeed signed talented young fullback Carl Jenkinson to a new contract to keep him at the Emirates until 2017. The terms of the new deal are believed to for five years in length and worth £30,000-per-week.

The young Englishman began being brought into the Arsenal first team over the past two seasons due to a rash of injuries that have continued to plague the club in defense for that time period and still do to this day.

In light of the injuries to his peers, Jenkinson has risen to prominence. Last season’s flustered and at times nervous performances have turned this year’s showings into those showing true class and ability.

With his current skill set only looking to continue to grow, he is now being looked at as the long term solution at right back for the club and could be one of the most influential young players in a Gunners kit for the next several seasons if he is used to the full of his potential.

Additionally a call up to the England National team is also thoughts to be in the near future for the players as England boss Roy Hodgson continues to look at the young potential in his nation’s ranks during the upcoming friendlies before the continuation of World Cup 2014 qualifying next calendar year.
