Kevin Prince Boateng and AC Milan Walk Off Pitch to Protest Racist Chants
A friendly match between AC Milan and lower division Pro Patria turned ugly when racist chants from the home crowd directed towards Kevin Prince Boateng resulted in AC Milan’s players walking off the pitch on Thursday.
The video below shows AC Milan’s Kevin Prince Boateng on the ball in front of a set of Pro Patria supporters before he picks up the ball and kicks it at them in outrage. The fans were making disgusting racist comments toward him as he was set to take on a defender.

After kicking the ball, Boateng rightly starts the long walk across the pitch back towards the dressing room. His teammates and members of Pro Patria attempt to console him as he takes off his jersey.
In the video of the incident, the commentator of the match is heard saying the following:
“It really is incredible. Boateng will not play anymore. There are some of the fans of Pro Patria clapping, and even Milan have now said they are not going to play anymore. Milan will leave. Let’s see if the whole squad decides to leave. Yes, it looks like the players are leaving the pitch.”
“Because of four [disgraceful] idiots. So many good people have come to watch the game, but because of four small people, everything will stop.”
In the latter portion of the video, the cameraman pans to the section of the crowd that seemingly caused the incident. The commentator continues, “here are the sad people [that have caused this]. Here they are.” Footage of the rest of the fans around the stadium screaming at the guilty fans can be seen as the cameraman pans around the stadium.
Boateng’s actions were rightly applauded by many fans and players from around the world.

It was brave of Kevin Prince Boateng to do what he did today, and it was the right thing. We need to stand up and stand together. Well done.

All eyes will now be on the reaction from the Italian Federation and FIFA as the latest chapter of race related abuse tarnishes the beautiful game.
